I bought this LP back in 1973 and recently bought it on CD (has not arrived yet).
When I bought the LP in 1973, I was 16 and had just seen the movie “Live And Let Die. ” I thought this album featured all the original versions of the James Bond movies and was initially shocked and disappointed that they were remakes by some guy named “Franck Pourcel. ”
My Dad offered to buy the LP from me at half price and I sold it to him. But it grew on me, even at 16 and soon I liked it so much that I offered to buy it back from him at half the price he bought it from me.
I particularly like Franck’s version of “The James Bond Theme. ” It has an Asian twang to it reminiscent of the movie “The Man With The Golden Gun” but better than any version of “The James Bond Theme” in that movie
Franck’s version of the song “007″ is superior to any John Barry composed in two or so of the Bond movies. In fact, every version of the various James Bond movie theme songs on this album has it’s own unique appeal.
I highly recommend this.
