Just a white kid from the Philly suburbs. This music, and other stuff, like the Crystals w/Darlene love, and The Shirelles, were almost too much for me to listen to sometimes. Too powerful! Don’t worry, the kids out there are finding out about this stuff–pre classic rock.

Note for the kids: I’m referring to the time when black performers had to look as white as they could, remain in the background if they could not, and were only allowed in the studio as performers, never part of the audience. You may not have been around at this time, but your parents probably were.
Here it is, almost fifty years later, and this song still rocks! In case you didn’t know, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has this song on its “500 Songs That Shaped Rock”!! I’ve seen US in concert several times in the last few years. . . He’s still great!
